Louis Vuitton has long been the rapper’s label of choice - indeed it was once rumoured that when hip-hop WAG (and now Phat Fashions creative director) Kimora Simmons was still married to Def Jam record label founder Russell she was the French house’s biggest customer. So it makes sense that it has now teamed up with Kanye West to bring out a line of shoes. The relationship should have come as no surprise as, in his own words (from “Last Call” with Jay-Z) he’s “Kan, the Louis Vuitton don”. The Kanye West collection will consist of three designs: classic trainers called Don’s; high tops called Tour; and Mr Hudson, which are based on boat shoes…

When GQ meets up with West in the Louis Vuitton showroom in Paris, all cream carpets and panoramic views down the Seine to the Eiffel Tower, it appears that he is almost as excited by this project as he is by shifting millions of records around the world. Proof of this comes when I am ushered into the side room that contains all West’s shoes, where he reviews his designs in private. Bear in mind that this is the man who, for the next week, is never seen surrounded by less than four people…

As a man who takes his footwear seriously, West is keen that I try on all his designs after himself; he takes the opportunity to see what they look like on someone else’s feet as well as his own. The three lines he finally decided upon are the result of a whole pile of prototypes, which he constantly examines minutely - you can tell he found it hard to be limited to just a trio of choices. While picking up and putting down a series of different shapes and colours of trainers, West discusses every tiny detail of the shoes, though for a performer he is surprisingly shy and speaks very quietly - rarely catching your eye.

But he is more than happy with the final three, particularly with his hip-hop take on a boat shoe. And when he attends the Louis Vuitton catwalk show later that week he is wearing a bright-red version of the “Don’s”. To rhyme with “Vuit-ton’s”, of course.

Chris Brown will sit down with CNN’s Larry King tomorrow for his first televised interview since he beat up Rihanna. Chris will be officially sentenced for the crime tomorrow – Wednesday, August 5 – and he’ll appear go on “Larry King Live” tomorrow night. According to RadarOnline, Breezy chose Larry King because he felt that would be the best place to apologize to a huge, national audience without having to face a lot of intense questions. Chris pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna and faces 180 days of community service and five years probation.

People love to talk about lyrics: punchlines, puns, double meanings, you name it. And no one is as fond of his own cleverness as one Shawn Carter. To that end, Jiggaman has reportedly inked a deal to write a book called Decoded, wherein he delves into his own inexhaustible arsenal of wit and wordplay to explain what he meant by many of his favorite lines. “I’m gonna pick the select ones,” he told a radio DJ, “all the double entendres and things that people may have missed or may have gotten and want confirmation on it.” Forgive us if we were a little skeptical at first, but it just didn’t sound like anything we’d want to shell out $24.95 for ($9.95 for the Kindle edition—holla at us, Steve Bezos!). But as with so many times before, it turned out that we were wrong. We got a look at a preview of Decoded, and the shit is absolute fire! First the facts. Nearly two weeks before Michael Jackson was scheduled to revive his career...You know what, forget all that. The news can give you logistics and by now I'm sure everyone knows. In fact, I think it would be safe to say that you are not human if the news of MJ's death doesn't effect your heart in some way. To say that this moment is surreal would be an understatement. Let's take a moment to reflect.Some say the "King of Pop" but lets just be real. Michael Jackson is the King of Music as we know it today. He's the greatest entertainter to ever live. I use to kinda joke around and say that when a baby was born, he/she would know Michael Jackson. All of your favorite artists today listened to, appreciated, and in some way were influenced by his music. If I made a list the names would take up the whole page, every genre included. We all can recite numerous lyrics and with over 750 million records sold to this day I'm sure most of the world could sing as one. Take a moment to think, When was the first time you did the moonwalk or spun around in your mirror? How many times did you do the signature MJ scream, Wooohooo, Heeeheee!? Is it possible to even count the number of us who dressed up like Mike for Halloween? Or even portrayed him in talent shows? Won dance contests with his moves? From 5yrs old to the elders whose time is almost up, we KNOW Michael Jackson. Some of us have painted different pictures in our mind when we think of him but whatever picture you paint, its a masterpiece that's left an impression in our hearts and in music as we know it. TODAY, June 25th 2009, will forever be, "The Day that Michael Jackson Died". You'll remember where you were and how you felt at the exact moment when you heard those words. Michael Jackson's LIFE was music so whichever picture above represents MJ in your lifetime, remember him well.

There's no way I could do justice sharing all the moments we remember in one post, so let's do it together. Share you favorite MJ song, moment or experience. Lets pay respect where it's due and know that he's in a better place with our true KING, our Lord and Savior. Rest in Peace brotha.

Say what you will about Yeezy, he’s actually a great rapper. Luckily, it’s in these moments of doubt that he pulls through with something like Graduation, so I’m looking forward to hearing what he’s gonna do next. Seriously, this, the new Common album and Blueprint 3 is what the kids have been yearning for.

“I kill that rap sh–, that’s what I do,” he said of his upcoming opus. “Lyrics right now, they’re awes-mazing. They’re basically untouchable. I’m about to take it to a whole ‘nother level. I’d be scared if I was not me.”

Kanye said he’s always making an album, because he comes up with lyrics just by having conversations with people. He still doesn’t write his rhymes down and hasn’t in six years. The composing process is obviously working out for him.

“As far as rapping goes, how can I say this? Jordan, Michael Jackson — it’s what I do,” West told us recently comparing his greatness on the mic to what the Mikes do in their respective arenas. “It’s time for me to bust another rap album.”
